HARVEY FIERSTEIN (Author) is a recipient of the Rockefeller Foundation Grant in Playwriting, The Ford Foundation Grant for New Plays, 2 VillagerAwards, 4 TONY Awards (Best Actor and Best Writing for Torch Song, Best Book for La Cage aux Folles, and Best Actor in Hairspray), 2 Drama Desk Awards, The Theatre World Award and the Soho News Best New Play of the Seasopn Mention. With a Fine Arts Degree from Pratt Institute, Mr. Fierstein began his writing career in 1973. Other plays include Spookhouse, Freak Pussy, Flatbush Tosca, Cannibals Just Don't Know No Better, Safe Sex (from our 1991 Season 18) and the book for La Cage Aux Folles.
